‘Inbetweeners’ star Simon Bird has quelled plans of a reported movie sequel.

Earlier in the week the show’s co-creator Damon Beesley suggested a follow-up to the 2011 hit movie was currently in the works.

However speaking at the Edinburgh International TV Festival, Bird appeared uncertain regarding his reprisal of the hilariously geeky Will McKenzie.

“There was a story in the press… But I think that was not quite true, don’t believe everything you read.

“Iain and Damon are thinking about doing one and are trying to think of ideas, and that’s about as far as it’s got. There’s no concrete plans, I don’t think.”

Synonymous with his character, Bird has remained prudent, warning fans that excitement concerning Beesley’s earlier announcement may be premature… We just hope his caution does not turn out to be reluctance.

We will continue to keep you updated on the movie’s progress.

The first Inbetweeners movie will finally hit US screens on September 7.
