A sequel to the popular Inbetweeners movie has been confirmed as ‘in the works.’

The show’s co-creator Damon Beesley confirmed the plans for a follow up to the 2011 movie is currently in the early planning stages; indicating that, if all goes well, Simon BirdJames BuckleyBlake Harrison, and Joe Thomas will reprise their roles for the new movie.

“I don’t want to give too much away at this stage but yes, we have been developing an idea for a sequel. We miss working with Simon, Joe, James and even Blake too much not to give it a go,” he told The Sun.

Co-creators Beesley and Iain Morris are taking it slow with this movie, making sure they have a strong story before the camera starts rolling. Morris followed up on Beesley’s interview via twitter, indicating that the sequel is in the works, but it’s, “far from signed and like Damon said we want to make sure we have a good enough story to tell.”

If they find the right story to tell, the four stars of the show are reportedly due to rake in £2.5 million ($4 million) each for their performance. A huge raise on the £500,000 (~ $800,000) they took home after the movie’s first outing in cinemas. The first Inbetweeners Movie was a huge box office success, breaking UK Box Office records to get the highest selling opening weekend for a UK comedy movie ever.

News of the sequel comes a day after MTV’s U.S. remake of the Inbetweeners series debuted on MTV (and in case you were wondering, yes, for the most part it was as bad as everyone said it would be).
