The trailer for director Rick Alverson‘s new movie ‘The Comedy’ has officially premiered.

The film, starring cult alternative comedians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, takes a darker approach despite the ironic ‘The Comedy’ title.

Heidecker plays and aging New Yorker with nothing to do and his father’s estate owed to him. With all of that money and absence of responsibility, his character goes as far as he can to push the boundaries of what’s acceptable.

It’s a stark change for Heidecker and Wareheim, who are more well-recognized from their extreme off-the-wall show on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, ‘Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!’

Last year, the pair released their first film ‘Tim And Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie,’ which despite its poor critical acclaim, has only grown their cult status.

LCD Soundsystem fans will recognize the third man in the trailer’s church scene as former frontman and producer James Murphy, who has a small role in the film.

‘The Comedy’ will have a limited release, hitting select theaters on November 9.
