With Halloween looming in the not-so-distant future, Paramount have released the trailer for ‘Paranormal Activity 4’, the latest installment in the found-footage franchise.

Once again the camcorder has been unearthed to capture some rather grainy albeit creepy footage of the things that go bump in the night.

Little has been divulged concerning the plot of the latest installment. Directors Ariel Schulman and Howard Joost, the masterminds behind PA3, have remained tight-lipped – continuing the mystery that enshrouds the franchise.

However, from the trailer it can be established the forth installment will move into the present day, following on from PA2 when a possessed Katie (Katie Featherston) killed her sister and brother-in-law, and took baby Hunter from his cot.

Paramount undoubtedly have high expectations for the forthcoming installment. PA3 was a box office triumph. With a production budget of only $5 million, the movie went onto gross $205 million worldwide.

Instigating the hype Paramount have given fans the option to vote for an advanced screening in their home city. To vote, visit the official Paranormal Activity website.

Paranormal Activity 4 will be released October 19.
