Among the more obvious front-runners for Best Picture at next year’s Oscars stands Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Scientology-inspired epic The Master, which has just released one final trailer before its much-anticipated September 14 release in New York and Los Angeles.

The new trailer highlights Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s characters attempts to keep in line Joaquin Phoenix‘s character; an alcoholic and sexually active unstable character that Amy Adams clearly does not want to deal with any more.

It’s an unsettling take, giving the inner perspective Anderson has perfected over the last several years with films like There Will Be Blood and Magnolia.

The film, as previously mentioned, is slated for a New York and Los Angeles release September 14; however, The Weinstein Company has been showing the film in properly-equipped 70 mm theaters in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago, as well as other film festivals worldwide.

A nationwide release is officially scheduled for September 21.
