A few weeks back, it was rumored Warner Bros’ massive Justice League project would possibly be manned by actor/director Ben Affleck. However, it was revealed today after weeks of doubt that he will not be taking part in the project.

The news broke via Vancouver-area news site 24 Hours, which spoke to Affleck himself. After asking about the film, Affleck noted: “Justice League sounds really exciting, but it’s not something I’m working on.”

He added, “I’m not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that’s how rumours get started,” taking a little jab at movie and entertainment websites in the process.

So if Affleck is out of the running, then who may Warner Bros look for again?

Moviehole believes that the Wachowski’s may be in the running. The production company is apparently very pleased with the pair’s last film Cloud Atlas, which is set for release later this fall. Add that to the fact that Lana and Andy Wachowski are self-confessed comic books fans, and the pairing might make sense. However, nothing appears certain with the project.
