‘Flight of the Conchords’ duo Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement are back on the music scene with a new song for a New Zealand charity.

The comedy duo teamed up with a group of New Zealand elementary school students to brainstorm ideas for the song, ‘Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That),’ for the Red Nose Day Comedy for Cure Kids TV fundraising extravaganza.

The beginning of video consists of McKenzie and Clement interviewing the kids and encouraging them to come up with ideas for the song.

Some of the song ideas that the New Zealand tykes came up with include:

  • Trapping robbers and taking the money from their pockets
  • Kids who are sick cannot do the hip hop anymore
  • Saving money from the tooth fairy
  • Giving the sick kids juice, pizza and ice cream

McKenzie and Clement put together the original song lyrics from the children’s suggestions. The duo recorded the song with a variety of New Zealand singers, including Dave Dobbyn.

The TV event raised over $1.3 million for Cure Kids and the song shot to number one on iTunes in New Zealand. All proceeds from the song will go to the charity Cure Kids.
