Rosie O’Donnell announced Monday she tied the knot with longtime love, Michelle Rounds, in a private ceremony back in June.
The couple plans to celebrate the nuptials with a more lavish wedding in the future, but wanted to make things official before Rounds underwent major surgery in June.
O’Donnell announced the marriage Monday on her personal blog with a haiku: “we married in private before her surgery just the 2 of us/when we r both well enough will have the wedding of r dreams surrounded by those we cherish thankful for the love and support so many have given us during these trying times.”
The couple’s wedding announcement comes on the heels of major health issues for both O’Donnell and Rounds. O’Donnell’s wife suffers from desmoid tumors; a rare, cancer-like disease that is potentially fatal. O’Donnell also recently suffered from a heart attack.
In the same blog entry that announced her marriage, O’Donnell revealed that she has been painting a lot since her heart attack. She is auctioning off her artwork to raise money for the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation.
