Avril Lavigne, 27, is tying the knot for the second time.
The “Sk8er Boy” singer is engaged to 37-year-old Nickelback rocker Chad Kroeger.
Her new engagement comes as a surprise because not many people were aware of her relationship with Kroeger. The two musicians bonded while writing songs together for Lavigne’s upcoming fifth album. She tweeted a picture in late February of the two of them goofing around in the studio captioned “Bro’ing out with Chad Kroeger in the studio.”
The couple had been quietly dating for six months before Kroeger popped the question on August 8 with a 14-carat diamond engagement ring.
Lavigne was previously wed to Sum 41‘s Deryck Whibley. After the two divorced in 2010, Lavigne dated reality TV personality Brody Jenner. That relationship didn’t result in a marriage but they did get matching tattoos. This will be Kroeger’s first time down the aisle.
Lavigne’s fourth studio album Lullaby was released in 2011. Nickelback’s last album Here and Now came out the same year.
