Mariah Carey doesn’t take center stage in her new boxing themed video, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)”. Philly rapper Meek Mill is the boxing star while Carey spends much of the video in the background as a ring girl and boxing fan. Rick Ross also appears.
However, Carey is undoubtedly the star of final third of the video. She doesn’t do any boxing but she does hit the high notes that she is famous for.
The video is awash in black and gold colors, exuding a feel of luxury. Carey and Mill sport a number of different gold outfits throughout the video.
“Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” is the first single off of her upcoming 14th studio album, due out in March 2013. The song was released in three different formats. The single form featured in the video, a ‘vintage throwback remix’ and a ‘pulse club mix.’
“Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” has not quite lived up to its confident title. Radio stations have been ignoring the single and it is not doing well on iTunes.
Carey has plenty to be happy about, even if the single is performing below expectations. She will reportedly be the highest paid judge in reality show history when she joins the panel on the upcoming season of American Idol and her twins just celebrated their first birthdays with husband Nick Cannon.
