Brit pop band Blur have revealed two new songs ahead of their upcoming Olympic Closing Ceremony concert on August 12th. The tracks constitute the first new material released by the band since 2010.

The band preformed ‘The Puritan’ and ‘Under The Westway’ from a rooftop in West London as it streamed live via Twitter and the band’s website. Aptly the Westway, a road running through West London, can be seen in the background.

Discussing the tracks, front man Damon Albarn said “I wrote these songs for Hyde Park and I’m really excited about getting out there and playing them for people.”

When asked what it felt like to be playing together again, Guitarist Graham Coxon answered, “like a silk smoking jacket.”

‘The Puritan’ and ‘Under The Westway’ are currently available to purchase digitally. Both tracks will also be released on Vinyl on August 6.

The tracks mark the beginning of a busy summer for the boys, who recently announced they will perform a series of warm-up gigs in the UK ahead of their Hyde Park concert date.

The band is also due to release a commemorative box set titled ‘21’ on July 12.
