We’ve called this flick “Zac Efron’s EDM Movie” for the past year.

Now, finally, Warner Bros. have debuted the trailer for the film that we now know as ‘We Are Your Friends,’ which sees the 27-year-old actor play an aspiring DJ trying to break on to L.A.’s electronic music scene.

This will be director Max Joseph first time at the helm of a Hollywood flick, which looks like a pretty standard 21st century ‘rags-to-riches’ story. The film co-stars Wes Bentley (“American Beauty”) as the jaded mentor whose motives remain a mystery for much of the movie, Emily Ratajkowski (“Gone Girl,” “Blurred Lines” music video) as the mysterious love interest, and Jon Bernthal (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Fury”) as the man tempting the boys out of the club and into the cubicle.

Shiloh Fernandez, Jonny Weston, and Alex Shaffer also star as the ‘bros’ every DJ needs by his side.

Here’s the official synopsis:

‘We Are Your Friends’ is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Ratajkowski). With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.

As great as this story sounds, if you’re into EDM, you should also check out Eden, which is a semi-biographical re-telling of Daft Punk’s origins. Eden comes out in the U.S. on June 5.

‘We Are Your Friends’ is due for U.S. release on August 28, 2015.
