People across the country have had their eyes on the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial since the first day they stepped into a courtroom in Virginia. Over the course of just the past few days, there has been new information revealed about what happened during the time they were together and what caused the couple to head for a divorce that was in the public eye.
Depp and Heard have been apart for five years. However, he only recently took Heard to court for a $50 million lawsuit with defamation claims at the forefront of the trial. When the trial started on April 12 and opening statements were made by Depp’s attorneys, they made sure the court knew that Depp’s reputation was ruined because of the lies that Heard told about him only for her own personal gain.
Heard released an essay in 2018 that appeared in the “Washington Post” where she claimed that she was a figure associated with domestic abuse. Even though she didn’t name Depp in the essay, his attorneys have gained information about the hoax that she was a part of in order to offer misinformation about the actor. The story was crafted simply to get Heard’s name in the public eye in a positive manner so that she could go further in her career instead of thinking about Depp and his true character.
Heard has made comments on social media pages about the essay she wrote and how she wants other women to realize that domestic abuse is real and that they shouldn’t be afraid to speak out about it if it occurs. She also hopes that both parties can get on with their lives once the trial is over. Throughout the trial, there have been claims from both sides that abuse occurred in the relationship from Depp’s possible substance abuse to his severed finger.
