Canadian Crooner Michael Bublé has won the race for Christmas No.1 in the UK Album Charts.

The singer’s festive release, ‘Christmas’, sold 317,000 copies – Enough to clinch the coveted Christmas number one spot.

After the charts were released, Bublé released a statement saying: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be Christmas number one. The UK is one of my favorite places to visit and it’s a real honor to have my record in so many fans’ homes this Christmas.”

After releasing the album, Bublé said that ‘Christmas’ comes from the heart, and hoped it would play a special part in the holiday season. Speaking to Parade, Bublé said: “As much as my ego loves the thought about selling a bunch of records, it really wasn’t about being the big record this year

“It was about doing something that I thought could be a part of my legacy. Growing up, Bing Crosby was a huge idol and big inspiration musically for me, and I often think if I’m long gone and some kid can grow up listening to what I did, that is the goal.”

Bublé’s ‘Christmas’ is also the Christmas No.1 in the U.S., having already spent three weeks in the Billboard Chart.
