Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, member of the rap duo Outkast, was arrested for drug possession earlier this afternoon.
Patton had just walked off a cruise ship with his friends when he was caught by customs and border patrol dogs. The rapper was carrying Ecstasy pills, MDMA powder and Viagra, which he obtained without doctors’ consent. Contraband was also found in his party’s shared baggage.
In total, Patton was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Initially, he was held at the Pre-Trial Detention Center in Miami on a $16,000 bond, but like many celebrities, he has since been released.
Fellow rapper DMX faced a similar fate as he was arrested last November for using cocaine. He was sentenced to a year behind bars, and despite sneaking drugs into the prison, he was still released five months early.
Perhaps a little more appreciative of his freedom, Big Boi Tweeted “Fresh Out Baby!”
