Speaking on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, Adam Levine has explained the situation that led to a small confrontation with teen pop star Justin Bieber in Australia.

The Maroon 5 singer described how he and keyboardist PJ Morton were invited to play a game of basketball with Bieber and his entourage before things started to get out of hand.

He told Kimmel: “[Justin] talks so much S**t, like really angry… It’s insane. He’s a child!” Levine continued, “We were playing basketball and I felt this, like, really intense shove in my back… No-one does that, especially when the ball is dead… I was like, Did Justin Bieber just punk me!?”

Levine, who yesterday premiered his band’s collaboration with Christina Aguleria, added that he retaliated against the teen popstar, but regretted it afterwards.

“With my natural instinct… I got kinda mad, so naturally whipped the ball at him as fast as I could. I hit him in the back… but everything was fine after that, I defused the situation. Then I felt bad because I struck a child with a basketball.”

In the interview, Levine also recounts the odd weekend he spent with Justin Bieber and MC Hammer.
