There was even a campaign to bring down the Rotten Tomatoes score of the film prior to its release. That campaign obviously did not have any impact at all on its box office earnings. Considering the movie was such a big hit, it was only a matter of time until a sequel was given the green light by Marvel.

However, it is expected that the film will come out at some point in 2022. A person has already been hired to write the script. It was also announced that the directors of the first “Captain Marvel” film will not be back again for the sequel. This has made some fans very nervous. They believe that the creative team from the first film should have remained intact. However, that is apparently not going to happen.
Details about the movie’s plot have not been revealed as of yet. Since the script is still being written, we will not know anything about the casting for quite a while.
