Fans of the television show Star Trek have likely seen its many different adaptions. Most people are familiar with the original Star Trek series starring William Shatner. Unfortunately, fans of recent Star Trek series had not seen a new episode of this show in over 10 years. Many were uncertain if a new Star Trek series would ever see the light of day. On September 24th, Star Trek: Discovery made its debut on CBS to a huge audience.

Star Trek Discovery was created by Alex Kurtzman and Bryan Fuller. Discovery is set to take place 10 years before the events of the original Star Trek series. The television show debuted to reviews ranging from mixed to generally favorable. Star Trek: Discovery, at the time of this writing, has an 80% on review website Rotten Tomatoes.

CBS seems to be extremely positive about the new Star Trek series. Paste Magazine reports that the premiere of Star Trek: Discovery brought in a record number of subscribers to the CBS All Access service. CBS All Access is the television networks answer to Netflix where users can stream television shows and special events.

The television giant is taking an interesting approach to where Star Trek: Discovery will be shown. Future episodes of this show are set to air solely on CBS All Access. The company feels that this move will be profitable but it remains to be seen if fans will pay money to watch the newest Star Trek series. People can subscribe to CBS All Access for $5.99 per month or $9.99 per month with no commercials. This service does offer many past episodes of CBS content including many of the past Star Trek series.
