The Cure have announced new festival stops for this summer.

The iconic alt-rock band were originally scheduled to make just three stops on the 2012 summer festival circuit, at Sweden’s ‘Hultsfred’ Festival and Germany’s ‘Southside’ and ‘Hurricane’ Festivals.

Now, the band have added an additional five tour dates across Europe, including headlining spots at Holland’s ‘PinkPop’ Festival and Italy’s ‘Rock In Roma’.

While the band have yet to confirm any UK dates, rumors suggest the band have entered into negotiations with a popular UK festival.

Best known for his uniform of red lipstick, dark eyeliner, and electrified hair, Blackpool born frontman Robert Smith, remains the only original member of the band.

The Cure recently completed a short UK tour which culminated in a marathon two-and-a-half hour set at the Royal Albert Hall that saw the band perform three of their earliest albums in their entirety; ‘Three Imaginary Boys’ (1979), ‘Seventeen Seconds’ (1980), and ‘Faith’ (1981), alongside a selection of B-Sides and the band’s most popular hits.
