Controversial comedian Russell Brand has been refused entry into Canada by boarder officials, subsequently forcing him to cancel a scheduled gig at Casino Rama in Orillia, Ontario.

5,000 fans were informed of the shows cancellation, Casino Rama citing “travel issues” as the explanation. The venue is offering the option of a full refund or a rescheduled show date.

During the commotion, Brand took to Twitter pleading: “HELP! I’m gonna be late for Casino Rama show unless someone can force Canadian customs officials to let us land in Orillia.”

Later in a statement on his website the comedian-come-actor confirmed fans worse fears: “Tonight’s Casino Rama show postponed. I’m sorry. I can’t enter Canada. We must abolish the boarders between our nations AND our minds.”

Brand has not yet cited the exact reason for his refused entry into Canada.

In May of this year 36-year-old Brand was deported from Japan due to prior convictions. In 2008 he was denied entry into the United States, however he now lives there permanently with wife Katy Perry.
