Former England captain David Beckham has signed a further two-year contract with his current team LA Galaxy despite numerous alluring offers from reputable European teams.

Following the end of his five-year contract with LA Galaxy on December 31st, Beckham turned down an 18-month contract worth $18.7 million to join French team Paris Saint-Germain.

The midfielder cited family as a major influence in his decision to remain Los Angles based; “Me and Victoria had talked about it many times… Our oldest son was a big part of it as well. He’s 12 years old. He’s at that stage in his life where he needs that stability in his schooling.

“We’ve been happy here for the past five years. Why change something that works? The kids love living here, I love living here. Los Angles has been amazing to us as a family.”

Despite his continuing commitments to LA Galaxy, Beckham will make a return to the UK this coming summer as London host the 2012 Olympics.
