In the video he asked the only airline which is flying there, Turkish Airlines to help out with transporting some food. For those of you who subscribe to Casey Neistat on Youtube, know that Jerome is a close friend of him. Mr. Neistat is one of the most popular vloggers on YouTube. In addition, Ben Stiller joined in.
After some time the Airline responded and they dedicated an entire airplane to the cause. They also included 200 ton of extra cargo. The next step was to fund the cargo, they created a GoFund-me campaign called “Love Army for Somalia”. Currently, they have raised 2,3 million dollars.
In a vlog made by Casey earlier this week, he and Jerome talked a bit about how they are organizing the help. They are carefully working out a plan that will make sure that as much money as possible goes to the cause.
This is a perfect example of how powerful social media is and how much positive the influencers can get done. This will probably inspire other influencers to use their position to do something good.
