The X factor has had a continuous presence in showbiz news lately as UK pop star Cheryl Cole was booted from the American panel under the guise that her ‘Geordie’ accent would prove indistinguishable to American audiences.

Well now the ‘X factor UK’ has hit headlines following allegations concerning the only remaining original judge, Louis Walsh.

A 24-year-old single father accused the Boyzone manager of sexually assaulting him in a Dublin Nightclub on April 10.

Following the allegations Walsh said in a personal statement, “The allegations made against me are wholly false…I will happily cooperate fully with the police and am 100 per cent confident that after a full investigation I will be fully exonerated.”

An abundance of celebrities jumped to Walsh’s defence, some rather unlikely faces such as Irish Gaelic Football player Cornor Mortimer and others more expected, the likes of Elton John, Dermot O’Learly, and Simon Cowell who has stated “I don’t believe for a second these allegations are true.”

It seems Walsh’s hopes of being exonerated are likely as according to Irish newspaper ‘The Herald’, “If credible evidence cannot be produced to substantiate this allegation, Mr Walsh has no case to answer.”

Despite the turn of events, Louis Walsh has said he is looking forward to returning to the UK X factor as auditions begin next week.
