Bio: George Takei is a Japanese-American Actor and Gay/Human rights activist. He was best known for his role as Hikaru Sulu on the original Star Trek television series, which aired from 1966-1969. He has also made prominent appearances in a number of Star Trek Movies. Takei is also a prominent Gay and Human rights activist, petitioning for legislative equality on a range of social issues. An open homosexual, while he didn’t officially ‘come out’ until 2005, he never actively hid his sexual preference (rare in the 60s/70s) and never attempted to hide his association with LGBT groups and couples.
