American audiences were treated to a glimpse of Pixar’s upcoming animation ‘Brave’ this weekend, and the term glimpse is no understatement with the teaser trailer running just over one minute long.
Despite the trailers length, or rather lack of it, it is evident that Pixar’s latest animation, their first fairytale, is set to be intriguing. Placed alongside Pixar’s previous creations, the likes of ‘Cars’, ‘Toy Story’, and ‘The Incredibles’, ‘Brave’ stands out as a darker and more mysterious movie.
‘Brave’ tells the story of Princess Merida, a keen archer, who, in pursuing her interest jeopardizes her father’s kingdom.
The graphics appear to be more ‘Avatar’ than ‘Toy Story’, not only showing how far computer animation has progressed but also the movie’s suitability for older audience members as well as the usual younger generations.
The Scottish scenery is breathtakingly animated. As the camera sweeps lochs and highlands you have to remind yourself of the un-reality of it all.
The fair princess will be voiced by Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald (pictured), who is best known for her roles in ‘Trainspotting’, ‘No Country for Old Men’, and television series ‘Boardwalk Empire’.
A host of other British stars lend their voices, including Julie Walters aka Molly Weasley in the Harry Potter film series, Scottish comedian Billy Connelly and ‘Nanny McPhee’ actress Emma Thompson.
‘Brave’ is due to hit US screen on the 22 June 2012, and UK screen on the 17 August 2012.
