Buffy is back! Well, Sarah Michelle Gellar is, in new TV drama ‘The Ringer.’ The show is scheduled to debut on the CW on September 13, 2011.

Fans of the vampire slayer are excited to have the butt-kicking blonde back after a long hiatus from TV while she was being a mom to her daughter, Charlotte.

In the new series, Gellar plays twin sisters Bridget and Siobhan who have been at opposite ends of the spectrum with their lives and with each other. With both sisters unhappy with how their lives are going, things continue to go from bad to worse for the pair.

Bridget, a recovering alcoholic, is running from the mob when Siobhan dies after throwing herself overboard of a boat. Bridget places herself in Siobhan’s life, taking her identity and learning that Siobhan has a lot more demons and darkness in her life than Bridget ever realized.

Fans are optimistic about the show, especially with the loyal following Gellar has had since her ‘Buffy’ days. In June 2011, ‘The Ringer’ was one of eight honorees in the “Most Exciting New Series” category at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

While it is another dramatic role for Gellar, ‘The Ringer’ is even darker than the graveyards that she’s previously visited in ‘Buffy.’
