The third season of fantasy series ‘Game Of Thrones’ will be ‘supersized’ according to producers.

Season 3, which is due to air on HBO on March 31will still consist of 10 episodes, however each episode will be longer in length resulting in approximately 60 minutes of extra material.

As with the season two final, it has been reported that the season three closing episode will run well over 60 minutes.

Executive producer D. B. Weiss said “There’s almost another full episode worth of extra minutes spread across the season.”

“One of the great liberties with HBO is we’re not forced to come in at a specific time. We can’t be under 50 minutes or over 60 but that gives us a lot of flexibility.”

The series will be based on the first half of George R. R. Martin’s third and longest novel in the ‘Games of Thrones’ series – ‘A Storm of Swords.’ Series four will conclude the second part of the novel.

Recent castings confirm that new characters will be welcomed into the forthcoming season. Alexandra Dowling has been cast to play the part of Roslin Fray, one of Walder Fray’s daughters (David Bradley) set to marry Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies). British actor Ed Skrein will play Stormcrow captain Daario Naharis.
