It should come as no surprise that Louis C.K. has become one of the America’s biggest comedic stars in recent years. Already a legend in the stand-up community, the 44-year-old star’s hit show Louie has given him his long-waited recognition.

With a loyal following among fans and critics alike, FX announced last weekend its plans to renew the show for a 13-episode fourth season.

In a statement, FX president and general John Landgraf said: “There are not enough superlatives in the English language to bestow on Louie or the work Louis C.K. is doing. With this series, he has changed the form and is doing truly groundbreaking, landmark work that is inspiring a whole new generation of artists. Simply put, he is making one of the best shows anywhere on television.”

The announcement came in the middle of Louie‘s third season, which airs at 10.30 pm EST on FX. The hour-long season finale will air September 27.
