This year’s Emmy Awards will be led by, once again, AMC standout show Mad Men. The series has made recent history, winning Outstanding Drama Series for a remarkable four years in a row – tied for most by any show in Emmy history.

Not to be outdone, FX Network’s American Horror Story matched Mad Men with 17 nominations, which premiered less than a year ago.

PBS drama Downton Abbey wasn’t far behind with 16 total nominations. The show won in 2011 for Outstanding Mini-series, but has moved into the drama category this year, including every acting category.

Breaking Bad anti-hero Bryan Cranston will attempt to win his fourth Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series award, after having his streak broken last year by Friday Night Lights actor Kyle Chandler. If he does manage to win his fourth award in the category, he will tie Dennis Franz for most ever by a lead actor.

The Primetime Emmys will broadcast live September 23 on ABC, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
