Even though ‘Dexter’ fans were given another taste of the upcoming six season of the show, Showtime decided to finally release the full trailer.

It continues with the idea that this upcoming season of ‘Dexter’ will focus around spirituality, religion, and the continuing question of morality in the series. The clip starts with Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall, in his usual circumstance of killing the scum of society (rapists, murderers, child molesters, etc…) when he is confronted once again with the idea of God playing a role in society and in life.

While Dexter has killed people before who have called out for Jesus or other religious figures, it hasn’t played a prominent role in the script, until now. Set a year after season five, it will be interesting to see where the aspect of religion and spirituality will stem from considering Dexter has been placed in situations before where morality and God would be relevant.

This is also the first promo where fans get a look at the new guest stars, Colin Hanks and Mos Def.

The cast and masterminds behind the series recently spoke at a panel at Comic-Con where executive producer Sara Calleton told fans that a big part of this season is, “initiated by [Dexter’s] desire to find faith. It provides him with a lot of avenues that he explores.” One that hopes will lead his son, Harrison, into the light rather than into the dark with him and his “Dark Passenger.”

Until this promo release, fans were unsure when the official release date of the new season would be and now they have their answer: October 2nd.

I don’t know about the other Dexter fans, but as one myself I could not be more excited for the upcoming season. The writers and cast have yet to disappoint me and keep getting better and better each season. I love nothing more than not being able to predict what is going to happen next because the writing is so solid! Are you excited for this new “faithful” Dexter?
