Fans of serial killer Dexter Morgan got a nice surprise when Showtime released a teaser promo for the upcoming sixth season.
The promo shows Dexter, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, walking through a religious setting reflecting on his “dark passenger” as musical “halleluiahs” are played in the background. While still somewhat vague, this video has more substance than the previous one.
Even though fans still don’t have a definite air date for the new season, the video gives just enough information for fans to create their own scenarios about who will be Dexter’s next victim.
Executive Producer, Sara Colleton told TV Guide that season six would be at least a year into the future to help progress the storyline away from the past.
She said, “We wanted to jump ahead a year and find that Dexter has gotten his groove back. He’s gotten over Rita (Julie Benz) and Lumen (Julia Stiles).”
Much like the first teaser, which showed just Dexter proclaiming, “I’m feeling like my old self again. Renewed. Recharged. Refocused. With nothing to stop me from being me,” this newest teaser serves to reenforce that concept.
The creative team has also found success with it’s guest stars in the past two seasons with John Lithgow and Julia Stiles and has added, Colin Hanks and rapper Mos Def for season six.
