The CW has a new supernatural teen drama in the works about a prep school where the students are not quite human.

‘Copeland Prep’ takes place at a premiere secondary school where the intense competition literally turns students into monsters.

Supernatural shows like CW’s ‘Vampire Diaries’ and MTV’s ‘Teen Wolf’ are definitely all the rage these days. However, ‘Copeland Prep’ doesn’t seem like just another copycat teen drama.

This monster drama has a group of teen show veterans working behind the scenes. ‘The O.C. and ‘Gossip Girl’ creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are developing the series. ‘Twilight’ director Catherine Hardwicke will also serve as executive consultant.

Bret Easton Ellis has been hired to pen the script and act as executive producer. Ellis wrote the novels that were made into the films ‘American Psycho’ and ‘The Rules of Attraction.’

Recently, Ellis expressed an interest in writing the script for the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film, but he is now out of consideration.
