Christina Aguilera has opened up about joining forces with The Voice mentor Billie Joe Armstrong, and about her upcoming album.

The pop singer and the rock star may seem like an odd pairing but according to Aguilera they got along great.

“It’s nice to get together and both vent and laugh,” she told Rolling Stone. “We laughed our asses off, oh my God, we made each other laugh.”

Armstrong and Aguilera also mentioned the possibility of collaborating during an interview with Extra.

“Stranger things have happened,” said Aguilera. Armstrong added, “I’ll write something.”

Aguilera did not talk a lot about her upcoming album, her first since 2010’s Bionic, but she did say that the first single is called “The Body.”

Aguilera also said she is excited about the new album and opened up about her creative process.

“I’m one that likes to collaborate, I love feeding off the creative energy and it only makes me better,” she says.

Fellow coach Adam Levine will also team up with mentor Mary J. Blige for season three of The Voice, which starts September 10.
