Bryan Cranston is due to direct an upcoming episode of ‘Modern Family’.

Cranston, who is no stranger to family sitcoms after having played Hal in ‘Malcolm in the Middle’, is nearing the end of negotiations with ABC to take the helm of an upcoming episode of the popular comedy series, which is currently in its third season.

Cranston currently stars in the critically acclaimed AMC series ‘Breaking Bad’, which sees him take on the role of Walter White – A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with lung cancer that turns to selling meth in an attempt to secure his family’s financial future before he dies.

The actor directed seven of the 151 episodes of Malcolm in the Middle’ produced during its six-and-a-half year run. He also put on his directors cap for two episodes of ‘Breaking Bad’.

55-year-old Cranston is also due to offer his voice to a number of animated roles over the next few months, including “conscientious astronaut” Commander Drake in the series finale of ‘Archer’, and siberian tiger Vitaly in ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’.
