British actor Benedict Cumberbatch will voice two characters in The Simpsons when the animated series returns for it’s 24th season this fall.

The Sherlock actor was in LA filming J. J Abrams Star Trek sequel when he stumbled across the prestigious cameo.

“I was at a meeting in the same place The Simpsons is recorded and heard there was a part going in an episode. I said, ‘I hate to muscle in here guys but could I record it?’

“Next thing, I’m standing in a room with all those famous voices; Bart, Marge, Homer, Lisa.”

Cumberbatch will voice both the British Prime Minister and a snake-like character in an episode titled ‘Love Is A Many Splintered-Thing.’

A Cameo in The Simpsons has become a true sign of Trans-Atlantic success for British celebrities. Other stars to have lent their British brogue to Fox’s animated series include J. K Rowling, Ricky Gervais and Ex-Prime Minster Tony Blair.
