Nicole Richie and George Takei will both be appearing on the NBC’s ‘The New Normal.’

Executive producer Ryan Murphy made the announcement confirming the pair will have guest starring roles on the comedy via Twitter, which premiered on NBC September 10.

“Proud to announce Nicole Richie and the legendary George Takei are joining The New Normal family,” Murphy tweeted.

Murphy has had success with ‘Glee’ and ‘American Horror Story,’ but ‘The New Normal’ is his first foray into the sitcom world.

Richie, on the other hand, comes to the set with plenty of sitcom experience. She had a guest role on ‘8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter’ and a recurring role on ‘Chuck.’

Richie is currently filming ‘Fashion Star,’ and she recently launched a clothing collection for Macy’s.

‘Star Trek’ icon Takei has a wealth of experience on both the big and small screen. Both he and Richie will play themselves on ‘The New Normal.’ No word yet on the content of the episode or when it will air.

‘The New Normal,’ set in L.A., is about a gay couple  (Justin Bartha, Andrew Rannells) and the Midwest waitress, Goldie (Georgia King), who decides to become their surrogate to help them start a family.
