“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” sold 623,000 copies last week, according to Neilsen.

That magic number gave Taylor Swift the record for highest number of digital downloads for a female artist. The number of copies sold marks the highest digital sales for a female artist during a one-week period, ever.

Along with the record, the single also marks Swift’s first #1 single in the U.S.

The country star’s numbers beat out the former record-holder Kesha, who moved 610,00 digital copies of her 2010 hit “Tik Tok” in its first week.

Overall “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” comes in second for release week digital download numbers. Flo-Rida‘s “Right Round” sold 639,00 copies in a week in 2009.

The lead single from of the Swift’s upcoming album ‘Red’ has been making waves in a variety of genres. The single has placed in the Country (#13), the Adult Contemporary (#16), the Mainstream Top 40 (#18) and the Adult Top 40 (#21 ) charts.

Swift isn’t sweating the numbers too much though. Last year she told Billboard that she tries not to focus too much on sales.

“[I have] a five-minute conversation with myself about if a [sales] number really defines this piece of art that I’ve created and what that means, and what the number’s going to be,” she said. “I try to predict what it’s going to be, and then I realize that I can’t predict what it’s going to be, and then I sit there and say something to myself like, ‘Well, you’re happy today. Enjoy this and be proud of the music that you’ve made.'”

Swift’s fourth studio album ‘Red’ is due out October 22, and she is due to perform “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” live at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 6.
