Taylor Swift has announced details of her next album.

Announced during a Google+ Hangout, Swift’s fifth studio album will be titled ‘Red’.

The album will feature 16 tracks, which Swift says are inspired by the “tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I’ve experienced in the last two years.”

“All those emotions – spanning from intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, confusion, all of that. In my mind, all of those emotions are red. You know, there’s nothing inbetween. There’s nothing beige about any of those feelings. So I called it Red,” she went on to say.

The country star also unveiled the artwork for the album, and previewed her latest new break-up anthem, titled “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, which was the first track released from the new album. The track immediately shot to No.1 on the iTunes download chart. The track doesn’t sound very ‘country’ (you can hear it at the 21:00 mark in the video below); however, it was produced by Max Martin – The Pop mastermind behind Britney Spears‘ “Baby One More Time” and The Backstreet Boys‘ “I Want It That Way”, to name just a few of his hits.

‘Red’ will be available worldwide from October 22.

In addition to the 16 tracks on the album, a variety of bonus tracks will be available depending on where you buy it.

Swift also confirmed that British breakthrough singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran will feature on the album. They’re both fans of each other’s work, and rumors of a collaboration have been circulating for almost a year now.

Speaking about Sheeran, Swift said: “Ed Sheeran is one of my favorite people in the world… He’s so cool, and he’s just such a great artist. And I remember when I was touring in Australia, I saw his music video on TV and I was just blown away. It was the one for ‘Lego House’. I just think that whole concept is just brilliant and amazing.”
