In a radio interview last Thursday, former Spice Girls member and current socialite Victoria Beckham laid out a “possible” confirmation of a reunion of the 90s pop group.

“I don’t know about a comeback tour,” Beckham said in the interview. “But I loved being back with the girls … we are very excited about the Olympics.”

The rumors continued to circulate around London leading up to the games, which begin July 27. Word was that Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, and Melanie Brown were slated to perform at the closing ceremony. The Who, George Michael, Jessie J, Blur, and others are expected to also perform.

As of yesterday, however, a source confirmed to The Daily Mail the group will indeed be performing at the event’s closing ceremony. Sources also confirmed that an attempt to have the group perform at the ceremony has been in works for nearly two years.

The Spice girls were offered the chance to perform at The Queen’s diamond jubilee, but were forced to turn it down due to some of the girl’s other commitments.

The group last reunited in 2008, eight years after the their final album Forever. The album famously didn’t feature Halliwell, aka “Ginger Spice,” who had quit the group two years prior.
