Rihanna has officially announced that her brand-new single, ‘Diamonds,’ will premiere this Wednesday!

‘Diamonds’ is the lead track off of her upcoming album, which is rumored to be set for release in November.

Rihanna talked about the single on Elvis Duran’s radio show on Z100 in New York, hinting that fans will see a lighter, more carefree side of the singer.

Rihanna described the single, ‘Diamonds,’ saying, “The lyrics are very hopeful and positive, but it’s about love and the gears are a little different from what people would expect. I’m excited to surprise them sonically.”

She went on to talk more generally about the mood of her next album, which she referred to as a “happy and hippy album.”

‘Diamonds,’ is not only the title of her new single, but it is also the name of her world tour, which will start after the New Year. Fans will likely be surprised to hear a more laid-back side Rihanna after the fiery intensity of recent releases such as the hit ‘We Found Love‘ and her ode to leather and chains, ‘S&M.’

Despite her assurances that she has produced a ‘hippy’ album, something tells me that the new release will not be all flowers and sunshine. Rihanna is always edgy, so it will be interesting to see what she comes out with next.
