Female pop and hip-hop stars are bringing the summer music, but so far they are unable to unseat Lil Nas X’s reign at the top of the song charts. This past week saw singers Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry release new music, as well as hip-hop star Cardi B. While all three saw decent debuts with their newest music, the popular tune “Old Town Road” is still keeping the fans coming in.

According to Variety’s report, Cardi B’s newest track “Press” takes aim at her rivals, although her targets aren’t clearly identified. Still, the rapper’s newest track has claimed the No. 7 spot on the iTunes top 10 for all songs. It’s also taken the No. 2 spot out of the top 10 hip-hop songs at the Apple iTunes song chart. As mentioned, it’s hip-hop star Lil Nas X who holds No. 1 on both of those charts.

Katy Perry also unleashed her newest song “Never Really Over” on the masses. It was holding the No. 3 spot on iTunes chart as of Sunday (June 2). Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus also put out a new extended play (EP) album called “SHE IS COMING.” That EP release reached No. 2 on the overall album charts at iTunes Store. Thomas Rhett’s “Center Point Road” holds that top spot.

Cyrus’ newest album includes a total of six new songs. Featured artists include Wu-Tang hip-hop star Ghostface Killah, Swae Lee, and drag queen/model RuPaul. Miley Cyrus’ “Mother’s Daughter” from the new EP is currently in No. 14 overall for songs.

Other female artists’ songs holding spots in iTunes’ top 10 right now include the track “Whiskey Glasses” by Morgan Wallen, as well as “bad guy” by Billie Ellish. It should be interesting to see which songs end up taking over as the official “songs of summer” once the heatwave has worn off in several months.
