Jay-Z joined pal Chris Martin onstage for the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Paralympics.

Hitting the stage with Coldplay, Jay-Z rapped verses while the band performed their hit single ‘Paradise.’

Martin and his wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, are close friends with Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé Knowles.

Paltrow and her 2 children signed a group birthday card for Beyoncé for her 31st birthday on September 4.

Paltrow signed the handwritten note, which was published on the singer’s website, which reads: “For dear, sweet BB on the occasion of her 31st birthday… we love you so very much.”

Jay-Z gave shout-outs to athletes Gabby Douglas, Ryan Lochte, and Serena Williams during the performance.

He explained the added verses on his website, writing, “The thought behind the verse is, anyone with a disability, just wants a sense of normality – that’s why they’re competing in these games.”

Jay- Z continued: “It can relate to everybody. ‘You can take everything,’ means whether through some tragedy you lost a limb, like an arm or a leg. Or, it could be something like you lost the mortgage to your house. That’s pretty much the idea.”

Rihanna also played at the closing ceremony, performing her hit, ‘We Found Love.’
