Jay-Z has revealed he is open to the possibility of a follow-up to his ‘Watch the Throne’ collaboration with Kanye West.

Released earlier this year, ‘Watch the Throne’ was a critical and commercial success; receiving widespread acclaim from critics and breaking the iTunes record for the most first-week downloads of any album since the service began.

Earlier this year the duo, who are currently on tour promoting ‘Watch the Throne’, revealed they both have new solo albums due in 2012. Now, Jay-Z has upped the ante, hinting that a ‘Watch the Throne’ follow-up may be on the way as well.

Speaking to MTV, Jay-Z said: “It depends on how [the tour] finishes up. We – I say ‘we’ because I’m in Throne mode – we’re in a great place creatively.

“You might see a Jay, then Kanye and a Throne album next year. You know, we’re really in a great place creatively. We really found our zone.”

In a recent interview, the ’99 Problems’ rapper revealed ‘Watch the Throne’ was an attempt to ‘protect Hip Hop’, saying: “hip-hop has basically replaced rock and roll as the youth music… The same thing could happen to hip-hop, it could be replaced by other forms of music. So it’s just making sure that we put that effort into making the best product so we can contend with all this other music… all the dance music that’s dominating the charts right now and indie music that’s dominating the festivals and still hold off rock ‘n’ roll.”
