McLeanHowie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell are currently in London recording that will eventually be their eigth studio album, due for release early 2013. Backstreet Boys – ‘I Want It That Way’:

The band first got together after music mogul Lou Pearlman placed an ad in a Florida newspaper looking to put together a boyband. It took him almost a year to find everyone he wanted in the band, with all five members finally committing to the group on April 20, 1993. Pearlman went on to play a key role in the success of many other artists, including *NSYNCO-Town, and Nick’s younger brother Aaron Carter.

The band were hugely successful throughout the 90s, and while they remained relevant into the 2000’s, sales dropped off dramatically after Richardson left the band in 2006 to ‘pursue other interests’.

While making the announcement, the GMA crew also showed the band footage of themselves from over 20 years ago. When asked what they would say to themselves in the past, Richardson responded “I would say hang on. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride but it’s gonna be amazing and enjoy every step of the way.”
