A new trailer has been released for the first film in Peter Jackson‘s upcoming mega-trilogy, ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.’

The new trailer comes 9-months after the last ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ trailer was unleashed on the web and features several scenes fans have never seen before, including one eye-catching moment with Andy Serkis‘ famed character Gollum.

The trailer also features new scenes with actors Hugo Weaving and Cate Blanchett, who both appear in the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ film trilogy.

For fans of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord Of The Rings’ author J.R.R. Tolkien, the trailer release comes during a particularly special week. The American Tolkien Society has proclaimed this week Tolkien Week, with September also marking the society’s unofficial holiday, Hobbit Day; which commemorates the birthdays of the series’ seminal protagonists Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.

September 21 also marks the 75th anniversary of the release of ‘The Hobbit.’
