He’s recently been seen battling the malevolent Decepticons and saving the world from their evils in this years summer blockbuster, ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon,’ however Shia LaBeouf will now be keeping some rather different company.

The Transformers star is set to appear in political action thriller, ‘The Company You Keep.’ Robert Redford, who has in recent years favoured a position behind the camera, will direct the movie. However the Oscar-winning actor will also star in the movie, which will be his first feature role since 2007.

Adapted from a novel by Neil Gordon, ‘The Company You Keep’ tells the story of an underground militant (Redford) who goes on the run when a young journalist (LaBeouf) uncovers his true identity.

Fans will be keen to see 25-year-old LaBeouf take on a different role from the Transformers alter ego that shot him to fame. Having received good reviews for his more serious role in money-spinner ‘Wall Street: Money never sleeps,’ there is no doubt he will also shine in this post-transformers role.

Speaking about the film and its high calibre cast, producer Nicholas Chartier said, “This is about real Americans who stood for their beliefs thinking they were patriots and defending their countries ideals against their government. It is absolutely amazing to have Shia LaBeouf, arguably the brightest young star in Hollywood today paired with the global icon Robert Redford.”

The film is currently in pre-production, and is set to begin filming in Vancover this September.
