Robert Pattinson has announced his role in upcoming film, Queen Of The Desert.

The news comes just a day after his first official interview following the scandal with fellow Twilight star Kristen Stewart.

Pattinson will star alongside Naomi Watts, who will play Gertrude Bell in Queen Of The Desert.

According to Variety, the new film, from famed director Werner Herzog, “will chronicle Bell’s life as a writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer and political attaché for the British Empire. One of the first women to graduate from Oxford at the turn of the 20th century, she traveled through the Middle East, defining the borders of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.”

Pattinson will play the role of T.E. Lawrence, who film buffs will remember was the notorious British Army officer whose writings Lawrence of Arabia was based on.

Production for the film is slated to begin this fall.
