The fantasy action-drama film directed by Tarsem Singh released some promotional pictures for it’s upcoming release this November.
The pictures show the main characters played by ‘Twilight’ actor Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, the future ‘Superman’ Henry Cavill as Theseus the king of Athens, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actress Frieda Pinto as the oracle priestess Phaedra, ‘Iron Man 2’ actor Mickey Rourke as King Hyperion, and ‘The Three Musketeers‘ actor Luke Evans as the all powerful Zeus.
Despite the overhaul of action superhero/mythical movies lately, the concept of the film is based entirely on the Greek myth of the manifest exploits of Theseus who is believed to be the founder of Athens and fought the great beast, the Minotaur.
The movie will also incorporate the wonders of 3D technology into its cinematography, as well.
The official plot of the film is:
“Years after the Titanomachy, the Titan Hyperiondeclares war on humanity. He searches for the Epirus Bow, a legendary weapon created by the war god Ares, which will allow him to free the rest of the Titans from Taratus and take revenge on the Olympianswho brought about their downfall. In accordance with ancient laws, the gods are unable to take a side in the war between Hyperion and humanity. It is left to a peasant named Theseus, chosen by Zeusand accompanied by the priestess Phaedra and a slave, to protect his homeland and save the gods.”
The film is scheduled for release on November 11, 2011.
