Hollywood chums, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are due to reunite, the first time since their Oscar winning collaboration on 1998 blockbuster, ‘Good Will Hunting.’

The duo will join forces on a biopic documenting the life of infamous Boston gangster, Whitey Bulger. The mobster, who evaded the FBI for sixteen years before his arrest in California this past June, was responsible for nineteen murders; topping the FBI most wanted list.

Damon announced the upcoming collaboration in a recent interview with GQ, saying: “We’re doing a Whitey Bulger movie… There are a few competing movies and I don’t think its been announced yet that we’re doing it… But the sooner it’s announced the better, just because everyone else will back off hopefully. I’m really excited about it.”

Damon is due to star as the White Hill gang leader, while pal Affleck will remain behind the camera in the directors chair. Lending his expertise Terrence Winter (‘The Sopranos’) will script the movie.

However, little else concerning the movies direction has been decided; “If it’s a straight biopic, we’ll do it over a period of time. But it’s always a question of what part do you tell, and biopics are always a little cumbersome. So do we find another way in? We’re still figuring it out.”

Currently Affleck is scheduled to commence production CIA thriller, ‘Argo,’ his third director’s piece. Damon meanwhile, has recently announced his directional debut with John Krasinski (‘The Office’).

We’ll keep you posted as more news concerning the anticipated collaboration surfaces.
