A new trailer for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ has been unveiled on the internet.

Journalists in select cities around the world were treated to an exclusive 8-minute preview of the highly anticipated movie, which began with Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) arriving on the fire escape of Gwen Stacy’s (‘Easy A’ star Emma Stone) family’s 20th floor apartment.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ provides a new take on the spiderman story, exploring Peter Parker’s high-school experiences and his romance with Gwen Stacey both before and after his super-powered transformation.

Sub-titled ‘The Untold Story’, the film is directed by the fittingly named Marc Webb, who is best known for his work on ‘(500) Days of Summer’.

Webb promised a “darker, more intense” take on the Spiderman franchise than his predecessor, telling Comic-Con Magazine:

“There’s a new territory, there’s a new villain, it’s a different Peter Parker. My aim was to create a world where you could feel all those emotions…. There are certainly darker, more intense feelings in this movie. There is betrayal, there is tragedy, but there’s also humor and romance”

The film also features comedian Denis Leary as George Stacy, the father or Peter Parker’s love-interest Gwen Stacey; and actor Irrfan Khan as Dr. Ratha, and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard.

Peter Parker’s aunt and uncle Mary and Ben Parker will also be played by ‘The West Wing’ actor Martin Sheen and ‘Norma Rae’ star Sally Field.

The film will make it’s debut worldwide on 3D, IMAX and conventional theaters worldwide on July 3, 2012.
